How to compress PDFs for email
- Drop the PDF into the box above.
- Keep "Recommended" compression (or pick "Strong" for very large scans).
- Click "Compress PDF" and attach the downloaded file to your email.
Email attachment limits
Gmail allows up to 25 MB of attachments per message and Outlook.com 20 MB. Larger files get turned into cloud links or are rejected, and many company mail servers allow even less, often 10 MB. Recipients on mobile data also appreciate smaller files.
Which setting to choose
- Recommended: the best balance for most documents, often 50–80% smaller for scans.
- Strong: for big scanned documents that must get under a strict limit.
- Target size: pick this in the Compression menu if you need an exact limit, such as 2 MB.

Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. Pdfverter processes your files inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for contracts, statements and other confidential documents.
Will the recipient notice a difference?
With the Recommended setting, documents look the same on screen and print well. Only very detailed photos show slight softening.
